Permaculture education, training and development.
Permaculture is a design system for sustainability, a way of planning to better meet human resource needs in ways that are also harmonious to the natural world.
Facing the challenges of the 21st century requires new ways of thinking and planning which much more alligned to the needs of the natural world. Humanity is rapidly using up natural capital whilst regarding that as an income stream, this is clearly not sustainable and is the source of many of our problems today. Permaculture encourages individuals, families and groups to work together much more effectively and with a great sense of purpose to construct systems which benefit both stakeholders, wider community and the natural world .
S39 was founded by Steven Jones, here in Wales but is evolving into a much wider network of teachers, trainees and projects known as the S39 Academy of Permaculture. In 2014 through the Wales for Africa program we began building relationships with farmers in Uganda, and this has grown to include Kenya, Rwanda, Congo and Ethiopia.
We offer training on-line and in person, and hold regular volunteer events at Treflach farm, near Oswestry every Thursday. We are building a community accesible vegetable garden and conducting a long term soil building experiment, we also offer the Full Permaculture Design Course.
